Massapequa School ..Outrageous Taxes

I hope the people of Massapequa wake up and speak up soon and they vote OUT the next school budget.My property taxes(75% are school taxes)have more than Doubled in 5 1/2 years. Moved in 2004 property taxes $11,400..today they are OVER $22,000 ($16,400 school tax)...by the way I have NEVER used the school system. We have way TOO many HIGH paid teachers & administrators making well Over $ 100,000 + 25% benefits. Who can keep paying these insane taxes? I'll be using this GREAT website to put together the FACTS and distribute all over Massapequa BEFORE the May school budget vote...Enough is Enough!! What say YOU?

Civil Service Seniority List

Does anyone know or think they can obtain the seniority list for Monroe #1 BOCES, Network Technician and Senior Network Technician. All of our salaries are public record but the date we started seems to be some sort of state secret. There are some major cuts coming presumably in May and I am the last one that got hired, but I would like to know for sure how it all shakes out. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Wow, Wow , Wow,
I used to hope my kids would grow up to be Doctors or Lawyers but I guess the key to success is to be a Niskayuna School District Administrator or teacher.
Half a million dollars in administrative salaries for the high school alone!! How dare they continue to raise our taxes. My son's social studies teacher (late 40's) makes over $90,000. Yet, every year we are expected to send in a dollar or a box of kleenix with our children to help with classroon supplies. What a sham! VOTE NO ON TUESDAY"S BUDGET!!!!

School Staff Salaries and Benefits are the probem!!

Why won't any one just come out and say it. School Staff Salaries and Benefits are why our taxes are so high!!! If you look at any NYS school budget at least 75% of the budget is spent there. This is the problem that needs to be corrected. Cut the teachers and administration salaries and benefits!! I looked at a gym teachers salary on here and it was over 100K, ...(administrator deletion)... Are you kidding me??

I would love to make over 100,000 grand a year for a part time job. Our teachers work 182 days
per year. In the middle school, they have been teaching the same lessons for years(so much for prep time) Most people I know take work home (there goes that argument). Enough is enough. I want accountability, no tenure. You keep your job based on performance.

Lindenhurst Public Schools

Here's the scoop. The Lindenhurst Board of Education was to decide between two proposals from two security companies to provide security for the district. The proposal from the security company the district currently uses would cost the district $150,000 (over a three year period) more than the proposal from a second security company. Which company do you think the Board of Education picked?? You would think it would be the company which came in with a lower proposal, therefore saving the district $150,000, but this is Long Island and of course the Board went with its current security supplier. Can someone tell me what is going on here? Here is a district that put up a bussing proposition which passed and means that over 2,000 students (or 25% of the entire student body) lost the bus. How can the Board of Ed justify this? Just venting, but I want to encourage people to attend the Board of Ed meetings.

Scio Central Schools

I am returning to the Scio Central School Board of Education after a year or two off. I am hoping to use this board to keep the taxpapyers of Scio up to date on what is going on. While the meeting minutes are helpfull they are often way to vague to inform what is happening. Scio has several major decisions coming up over the next few years. Most peple simply do not have the time to attend enough meetings to know what is really going on and what direction the school is headed. Hopefully by using this board and allowing the public to comment the Board Memebers will get a good idea of the public's opinion.

I am a bit upset that Board Members have relatives that are working in the school district and it seems they use their influence to move their friends and relatives up. It seems to me that this should be illegal. Does anyone else feel this way? I think that this should be investigated at the very least.
